November Resource Update: Hoarding, Thanksgiving, Legal Aid
Resources to Help with Hoarding
Hoarding is a complex mental health disorder that has public safety implications: characterized by collecting items, difficulty getting rid of items and problems with organization to the point that it causes distress in a person's life and limits the use of living spaces in their home.
Minnesota Hoarding Task Force has great services: https://mnhtf.org/ including step by step of what to do: Whether you're struggling yourself, supporting a loved one, or working as a professional. The website also includes: a curated directory of organizations, assessment tools, support groups, books, and downloads — organized by who you are and what you need, a “How to Help” Brochure, Comprehensive Resource List, and offers a virtual meeting on the 3rd Thursday of each month at ll am for a Hoarding Professionals Community Consult group to discuss cases, get support, and share resources.
Crisis Clean Team @ https://www.crisiscleanteam.com/service-areas-minnesota Works with client Waivers to help with the costs associated with clean-up.

Home Improvement Program for Suburban Ramsey County Homeowners
Ramsey County offers two home improvement programs; the Critical Repair Grant Program and the Residential Rehab Deferred Loan Program, to help homeowners with low-to-moderate incomes to make health and safety improvements, repairs and fix code related issues. Modifications to improve the mobility of disabled and/or elderly occupants are also allowable. Cosmetic, recreational and/or luxury improvements, working capital, payment for owner's labor, debt service or refinancing existing debts are ineligible. The programs are not emergency services programs and are not able to help with emergency situations that require immediate attention.
Note: The programs are not currently accepting applications and there is high interest. If you would like to be placed on the Home Improvement programs interest list, please complete this form, and when funding becomes available, you will be alerted with all others on the list.
If you have questions, please call 1-800-525-6214 or email RCHOMES@slipstreaminc.org
Minnesota Homeowners Association (HOA) Law
Did you know that HOAs are required to follow fair payment rules? This means that they must accept any payments, big or small, and they must offer a reasonable payment plan for any dues. With a new HOA reform bill passed this year, there are new rights and protections for homeowners in condos, townhomes, and other common interest communities. You can learn more about the updates on our Facebook page.
